Dang!

Holiday baking comes without a plan. How about if we make….? And then it happens. French bread. Excellent! And it was even better French toast the next day. Mincemeat pie. Find mincemeat?! We did. … pie! Meringue cookies. They were the off shoot of my Atlantic pie. Leftover egg whites. Pretty simple. The secret was the cream of tartar. Dang! Those were good cookies.

Failed

We were invited to a covered dish dinner. I made lasagna. Jane was asked to bring dessert. She doesn’t cook or bake – at least so far as I know. But…. So, Colleen made a cake for her. The cake failed. It fell apart in the spring form pan. Cut off the top. Ha ha. Ice it. It still tasted funny after Lee iced it. So, it went to the covered dish dinner. And we brought most of it home to land in the trash. Jane had a piece and pushed it around her plate and did not eat it. A neat trick. Oh well, it seems no one can bake around here. I’m glad I stuck with the lasagna. Only a a small portion returned.
