Can Freeze Motion

Technical: Canon EOS 7D, 1/200 sec, f4, focal length 60

By the way, thanks to all who continue to contribute and keep this blog alive. I hope that my opinions are helpful and not pompous. I’ve been giving advice to some pretty good photographers. So there are not too many mistakes but it’s more about tweaking. Keep sending stuff. And, thanks again

So by David’s title you can guess what’s coming? What I like here is the isolation of the grasshopper head against a light background. The antennae and the eyes would be diminished in a green background. Great focus and detail, it’s a technically sound image. The balance of the light colored empty space splits the frame. I like the overall effect though. Once again, breaking the rules can be done intentionally as long as you realize that’s what you wanted. Otherwise after this shot I would have maneuvered to get the grasshopper isolated in the light bright background in the next shot.
